Frank Marshall Ventriloquist Wood Carved Marionette Head.

Here is a Frank Marshall Ventriloquist wood carved marionette head. It is in my collection and is one of my favorite pieces. Frank did not make that many marionettes so they are very rare to find…

Just added another Frank Marshall Ventriloquist antique dummy to the collection

Here is a really cool Frank Marshall antique Ventriloquist dummy circa 1940’s. I love the face on this one. Frank Marshall made some of the most famous dummies of all time including Jerry Mahoney, Danny O’Day, Farfel and some say even Charlie McCarthy….  His pieces are are considered some of the rarest most collectible pieces today. I have been collecting ventriloquist dummies for over 20 years and I am always looking to add more.   […]

Had fun at the Smithsonian Institute visiting Charlie McCarthy and Howdy Doody

I was back east last week wrapping up my Dec. shows in Pittsburgh, Philly, DC and Arlington, VA.  I had a couple of days down between shows and decided to go by the Smithsonian and see the original Charlie McCarthy and one of the original Howdy Doody puppets. Howdy is called Photo Doody as he was the original Howdy’s stand in for most photos etc. Here are some photos… DC is a great place to […]

An old picture of me with legendary ventriloquist Paul Winchell

Paul Winchell was one of the most successful ventriloquists of all time. He had his own TV show in the 50’s “The Winchell Mahoney Time” show… His dummies were Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Smiff. He was also the original voice of Tiger as well as lots more very well know characters..

Antique Ventriloquist Dummy for the Collection

I purchased the original ventriloquist dummy used by Lon Chaney in the 1924 silent film “The Unholy Three” The dummies name in the movie was Nemo and was made by Theodore Mack and Sons out of Chicago circa 1922. Many say that the original Charlie McCarthy was also made by Mack and Sons? This is an ongoing controversy amongst many […]

Charlie McCarthy at the Smithsonian

I had a show the other day in Fairfax, VA. and I flew into Washington DC. I had about 3 hours down time so I ran over to the Smithsonian, Museum of American History where the original Charlie McCarthy resides on floor 3. Edgar Bergen’s sidekick! For those that don’t know Candice Bergen is his daughter. Charlie McCarthy has to be in my opinion the best character ever and to see him live in person is […]
